I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 10th of June, 160th day of the year and 23rd Thursday of 2021.
1) Today in 1888 Revolutionary freedom fighter and educationist Bal Raj Bhalla was born.
Bhalla’s revolutionary activities led to his educational certificates confiscated by the government. He was part of the controversy to throw a bomb at the Governor General and later arrested for the Lahore Conspiracy case.
2) Today in 1890 “Sunday” was introduced as a weekly holiday.
After a 7 year long struggle British government declared Sunday as a Holiday. According to the International Organization for Standardization, Sunday is the 7th and also the last day of the week.
3) Today in 1955 Prakash Padukone, an internationally famous Badminton player was born.
He was ranked World No. 1 in 1980. He became the first Indian to win the All England Open Badminton championship.
