1) PM Modi to inaugurate the Saryu Canal National Project in Uttar Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh to inaugurate the Saryu Nahar National Project.
The work on the project started in 1978 but due to lack of continuity of budgetary support, interdepartmental coordination, and adequate monitoring, it got delayed and was not completed even after nearly four decades.
Prime Minister’s vision for farmer welfare and empowerment, and his commitment to prioritise long pending projects of national importance, brought much-needed focus on the project.
In 2016, the project was brought under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana with the target to complete it in a time-bound manner. The renewed focus on the project has resulted in the project being completed in only about four years.
The Saryu Nahar Project has been built with a total cost of more than nine thousand 800 crore rupees, out of which more than four thousand 600 crore rupees were provisioned in the last four years. The project also involves the interlinking of five rivers – Ghagra, Saryu, Rapti, Banganga, and Rohini to ensure optimum usage of water resources of the region.
The project will provide assured water for irrigation of over 14 lakh hectares of land and benefit about 29 lakh farmers of over six thousand 200 villages.
It will benefit nine districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh namely – Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, and Maharajganj.
The farmers of the region will now immensely benefit from the upgraded irrigation potential. They will now be able to grow crops on a larger scale and maximise the agri-potential of the region.
2) Police Commissionerate system implemented by Madhya Pradesh government in Bhopal and Indore.
Chouhan Shivraj Madhya Pradesh government implemented Police Commissionerate system in Bhopal and Indore. A notification in this regard has been issued.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the Police Commissionerate system has been implemented in view of the law and order requirements arising out of geographical expansion and technology.
The new system will not only strengthen law and order, but will also help in solving problems and cracking down on criminals.
Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra has informed that for effective implementation of law and order and population of both the cities exceeding 10 lakh, the State Government has declared urban areas and borders as metropolitan areas as per constitutional provisions.
The Police Commissioner system covers the boundaries of 36 police stations in Indore and 38 police stations in Bhopal.
Inspector-General of Police level officers will be the Commissioner of Police in both the cities.
The Commissioner of Police will have the powers of the Executive Magistrate.
3) International anti corruption day is observed annually on 9th December.
United Nations International anti corruption day is observed annually on 9th December to raise Awareness of corruption and of the role of the UN convention on combating and presenting corruption.
The UN has set up the global task force on corruption to reinforce the 1-UN approach to support in combating corruption.

4) International day of commemoration and dignity of the victims of the crime of genocide and the prevention of this crime is observed on 9th December.

2021 marks the 73rd anniversary of the adoption of the 1948 genocide convention by the United Nations general assembly.
This was the first human rights treaty adopted by UNGA.
Objective:
It is observed to raise awareness about genesis and the role of the United Nations genocide convention in preventing it.
Establish the duty of governments and States to prevent crimes of genocides and punish those who are involved in the heinous crime.

5) India wins 41 medals at Asian youth para games.
India claimed 41 medals at 4th Asia news para games Asia’s biggest event held at Riffa City, Bahrain.
The event is organised by the national Paralympic committee of Bahrain with the support of the local government.
There were over 700 athletes from around 30 countries who participated in the event.
Sports: Para athletics, para badminton, para powerlifting, para swimming, para table tennis, para taekwondo, and wheelchair basketball.
The fifth edition of the Asian youth para games 2022 will be hosted by Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

6) Disney byju’s early learning app signed Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu as brand ambassadors.
In this month byju’s announced a two-year partnership with Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu as the brand ambassador for Disney byju’s early learn app.
Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is a gold medalist and badminton player PV Sindhu is a bronze medalist from 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Disney byju’s learning app was launched in 2019 and run by think and learn Private limited the Disney byju’s early learn app has taken Disney licence character for its early learning and for younger children aged between 6 to 8 years.

7) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tops fortune India’s most powerful women’s list: 2021.
Fortune India released the list of most powerful women in India 2021 in which Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman (62) Ministry of Finance, Ministry of corporate Affairs ranked first.
She is followed by Reliance foundation chairperson and goodwill ambassador Nita Ambani in second position.

This year’s human right day theme is equality, reducing inequalities, advancing human rights.
It is observed to mark the anniversary of the adoption of the universal Declaration of human rights by the United Nations general assembly in 1948.

9) India successfully test-fires their version of Brahmos supersonic cruise missile.
India successfully test fired the air version of the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from the integrated test range of Chandrapur.
The air version of the Missile has been test fired from supersonic fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 MK-I.
The defence ministry described it as a major milestone for the development of Brahmos in India.
Various laboratories of Defence research and development organisations, academic institutions and quality assurance and certification agencies were involved in the development of this complex system.
Brahmos is a joint venture between India and Russia the Missile derives its name from the Brahmaputra river of India and the Moskva river of Russia.
Recently India has successfully test fired the vertically launched short-range surface to air missile from Chandrapur based ITR.
10) Niti Aayog launched the E-swari India E-bus coalition in tie-up with CESL.

The coalition has been launched to share data and learning on E-Bus India among various stakeholders.
The E sawari India electric bus coalition is one of the steps to world electrification of the bus transport system in India.
