1. USD 2.2 million in climate action funding has been announced by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and partners of the Adaptation Innovation Marketplace (AIM).

A) The project will be enabling the local organisations and will be contributing to UNDP and its partners across the world for locally-driven adaptation action.

B) AIM will be providing technical support for all the new funding applications launched. In January 2021, AIM was launched by Achim Steiner, the UNDP Administrator at the Climate Adaptation Summit.

2. According to a new report by Oxfam, more than a quarter of a billion people in 2022 will be pushed into poverty. 

A) The report also said that the financial crisis across the world will be driven by the rise in prices due to the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

B) According to the report, the 10 richest people in the world doubled their income during the pandemic.

3. Egypt, the world’s largest importer of wheat from Ukraine and Russia, has given approval to India as one of its wheat suppliers.

A) India will be supplying around one million tonnes of wheat, of which in April 2,40,000 tonnes will be shipped.

B) From Russia, Egypt has imported wheat worth around USD 1.8 billion, and from Ukraine worth around USD 610.8 million.

4. In India, at 1 lakh Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) teleconsultation facility began on 16th April 2022.

A) This facility has been launched with the aim of helping the people living in remote villages in the country receive medical advice from various health experts.

B) e-Sanjeevani has been providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to the people of the country.

5. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that Sri Siddalinga Swami of Tontadarya Mutt’s birth anniversary in Gadag will be celebrated across the state as ‘Integration Day’.

A) This was announced after the Chief Minister inaugurated the Aikya Mantapa on 15th April 2022.

B) The Mantapa is a structure built around the location where the seer’s mortal remains were buried on the Tontadarya Mutt grounds in Gadag.

6. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has recently presented a set of Time Release Studies (TRS) that have been conducted by the department.

A) The World Trade Organisation (WTO) recommends the TRS under the World Customs Organisation (WCO) and the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).

B) The TRS mechanism adopts the average release time of cargo, i.e. the time it takes for the cargo to arrive at the customs station to its eventual release for export or import.

7. The Indian Railways is planning to run its diesel locomotives fleet using biodiesel.

A) Biodiesel usage will help in saving on the diesel bill of the railways.

B) Biodiesel is a biodegradable and renewable fuel that is manufactured domestically from animal fats, vegetable oils, or recycled restaurant grease.

8. The government of Maharashtra has developed a website-based migration tracking system (MTS) to track the movement of vulnerable seasonal migrant workers through individual unique identification numbers.

A) The MTS project has been envisaged to maintain the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) continuity like immunisation, nutrition supply, health check-up, etc.

B) The women and child development (WCD) department of the state government launched it as a pilot project in November 2021 in six districts.

9. Various procedures under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme have been relaxed by the commerce ministry so as to facilitate the ease of doing business and reduce compliance requirements.

A) Under this scheme, the capital goods imports are allowed duty-free, subject to export laws.

B) The EPCG scheme’s objective is to facilitate the import of capital goods so as to produce quality goods and services and enhance the manufacturing competitiveness of the country.

10. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN (UdeDeshkaAamNagrik) has been selected for Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2020 under the category ‘Innovation (General) – Central’.

A) Government of India has initiated this award to acknowledge, recognize and reward extraordinary and innovative work done by Districts and Organisations of State/Government. 

B) This scheme emphasises Good Governance, Qualitative achievements, and last-mile connectivity rather than only on achievement of quantitative targets.
