1. Every year on March 21, people across the world observe international forests day.
A) On the occasion of International Day of Forests, Union minister of environment, forest and climate change (MoEF&CC) Bhupender Yadav led a plantation drive at National Zoological Park in New Delhi.
B) Prime Minister Modi also started the initiative ‘Janbhagidari’) to plant 75 trees in every village to mark 75 years of Indian Independence.
C) This ‘Janbhagidari’ initiative will not only create awareness but follow up on the recently released detailed project report on rejuvenation of 13 major rivers through forestry interventions.
2. Recently the GI Tag has been awarded to Narasinganpettai Nadaswaram.
A) Narasinganpettai Nadaswaram is a classical wind music instrument that is made in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu.
B) This musical instrument has a cylindrical shape and takes the shape of a bell at the bottom.
3. Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) organised Shaheed Diwas on 23rd March.
A) Shaheed Diwas has been organised by NYKS under the theme ‘Tribute to Revolutionaries’.
B) The programs aim at instilling a sense of gratitude, pride, honour and duty among the young generation to celebrate the life, work and philosophy of these freedom fighters.
4. The 2nd edition of India Australia Virtual Summit was held on 21 March.
A) Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Australia Hon. Scott Morrison held the 2nd India-Australia Virtual Summit.
B) Both the leaders also appreciated the increasing strategic convergence between the two countries as fellow democracies with shared values and common interests, which include a free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
5. Recently the Nipun Bharat scheme has been launched to promote literacy and numeracy in primary classes.
A) NIPUN Bharat stands for National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy, which is a joint scheme of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.
B) The mission aims to achieve universal foundational literacy and numeracy in primary classes and to ensure that all children attain grade-level competencies in reading, writing and numeracy.
6. ‘Cold Response’ 2022 has been organised by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) in Norway starting from 14th March till 1st April 2022.
A) This exercise has been held biennially off Norway’s coast since 2006 with the aim of improving the collaboration and military capability of the alliance.
B) In this exercise the total participation of 30000 soldiers,8000 sailors,14000 troops, naval troops and air force along with several Norwegian military facilities.
C) Most of the exercise will be held in central, southeast, and northern Norway.
7. BJP’s first woman candidate elected to Rajya Sabha from Nagaland.
A) S. Phangnon Konyak is the head of the Nagaland unit of BJP Mahila Morcha.
B) Since statehood in 1963, Nagaland has had only a one-woman parliamentarian, Rano M Shaiza, who was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977. The state never had a woman MLA.
8. On 22nd March, the Gulf Business Summit was held with a delegation of 22 companies from Hong Kong, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
A) The aim of this summit is to discuss the exploration of investment opportunities in various sectors across Jammu & Kashmir.
B) In this summit, pitch presentations of start-ups, exporters, and women entrepreneurs will be conducted.
9. On 22nd March, World Water Day is observed annually.
A) This day focuses to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 6 of the United Nations.
B) SDG 6 looks to ensure sanitation and safe water for all across the globe by 2030.
C) World Water Day is observed to create awareness to conserve underground water, protect it from overexploitation as well as generate awareness regarding the pollution that is causing harm to it.
10. The U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland met Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla for Foreign Office consultations (FOC) that focused on the “2+2” Ministerial meeting.
A) ‘2+2 Ministerial meeting’ likely to be held in Washington in April.
B) The Foreign Office consultations (FOC) provided a valuable opportunity to discuss contemporary regional issues pertaining to South Asia, the Indo-Pacific region, West Asia, and the situation in Ukraine, among others.
