1. Communications and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to inaugurate the 3rd edition of NIC Tech Conclave in New Delhi on March 3, 2022.

A) The theme for NIC Tech Conclave 2022 is “Next-Gen Technologies for Digital Government”.

B) NIC is an attached office under the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

C) It provides the infrastructure to support the delivery of government IT services and delivery of some initiatives of Digital India.

2. NITI Aayog is working on the development of a “National Gender Index”, that will be used to measure the progress and identify persisting gaps in gender equality to make informed policy decisions.

A) According to NITI Aayog annual report National Gender Index will serve as a tool to map the progress of states and Union Territories (UTs) on defined gender metrics and build a foundation for positive change. 

B) NITI Aayog has also developed a draft State Energy and Climate Index.

C) In the Global Gender Gap Report by World Economic Forum, India has slipped 28 places to rank 140th out of 156 countries.

3. The High-Level Committee (HLC) under the Chairmanship of Shri Amit Shah, has approved additional Central assistance under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five States and one Union Territory.

A) The HLC approved additional central assistance of Rs. 1,664.25 crore to five States and Rs 17.86 crore to one Union Territory.

B) The five states and union territories are as follows- Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry respectively.

C) Maharashtra has been allocated 355.39 crore which is the highest among the other four states and union territories.

4. Researchers have discovered an astounding new species of orchid in the cloud rainforest of Northern Ecuador.

A) This plant is unique with its showy, intense yellow flowers.

B) It is presumed to be a critically endangered species because its rare populations already experience ill effects of climate change and human activity.

C) Orchidaceae have around 28,000 currently accepted species. They are distributed in 763 genera.

5. 175 countries have agreed to a legally binding global treaty called the “Global Plastics Treaty”, to end the plastic pollution crisis by tackling the entire supply chain of material.

A) the First treaty directly seeks to tackle 9 billion tonnes of plastic produced since the plastic age ramped up in the 1950s.

B) The resolution on the first treaty was passed at the meeting of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi in Kenya.

C) As per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), India generates around 26,000 tonnes of plastic per day.

6. An International Criminal Court prosecutor has launched an investigation on the situation in Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

A) According to the United Nation, a war crime is a serious breach of international law committed against civilians or enemy combatants during an international or domestic armed conflict. 

B) The war crimes were clarified in the four 1949 Geneva Conventions.

C) Article 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention defines war crimes as wilful killing, torture treatments.

7. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has put at risk not just physical infrastructure and human lives but also priceless works of art, monuments, and cultural artefacts.

A) Several historical sites and heritage structures can be found in Ukraine and its museums have significant specimens of Baroque and folk art.

B) St. Sophia Cathedral, which dates to the eleventh century, holds one of the world’s largest collections of unique frescoes and mosaics from the first quarter of that century.

C) The ‘Struve Arc’, a cross-border scientific and cultural heritage object, consists of 258 triangles that create a chain of 256 main points.

8. To build awareness amongst citizens about good governance, MyGov has launched the “Sabka Vikas MahaQuiz” series.

A) It comprises 14 episodes and will be hosted at Quiz.MyGov.in.

B) Quiz will be available in Hindi, English and all other major languages. 

C) This scheme was launched to reduce the challenges encountered by the poor amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

9. Under the “Relief and Rehabilitation of Migrants and Repatriates scheme”, the Central Government has approved the proposal for the continuation of seven existing sub-schemes for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26.

A) Scheme will be continued till 2025-26, with a total outlay of Rs.1,452 crore.

B) The scheme enables repatriates and migrants, who have suffered due to displacement, to earn a reasonable income as well as to facilitate their inclusion in mainstream economic activities.

10. Jan Aushadhi Bal Mitra program was organized at 75 places across the country.

A) The program also includes educating them about the benefits of the project, price difference between Jan Aushadhi drugs and branded drugs, savings, Jan Aushadhi etc.

B) Jan Aushadhi Bal Mitra program was organized at 75 places across the country under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.
