I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 7th of June, 158th day of the year and 23rd Tuesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1979 India’s first experimental remote sensing satellite, Bhaskara-1 was launched by ISRO.
The satellite was named after 7th century Indian Mathematician Bhaskara-1. The chief purpose of the satellite was to collect data on Hydrology, Oceanography, forestry and telemetry.
2) Today in 1989 a 5 year old girl Sheetal Pandya set a World Record by skating from Delhi to Bombay.
Sheetal Pandya spent nearly 52 days on the road. Her father nearly raised $12,500 for cancer research.
3) Today in 1997 Mahesh Bhupati became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam Title.
India’s first Grand Slam was Mahesh Bhupati and his Japanese mixed doubles partner Rika Hiraki’s French Open title.
