1. Veteran Bengali writer Amar Mitra wins O.Henry Awards.

A) He won this award for his short story book Gaonburo in Bengali.

B) The O.Henry Award is an American award given to short stories of exceptional merit.

2. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has proposed setting up a National Hydrogen Energy Mission.

A) This mission aims to develop and scale-up green hydrogen production technology and make it affordable and widely accessible.

B) Under this initiative, it has been proposed to set up pilot plants with the help of exploring the feasibility of using green H2 in Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) production, by partly replacing natural gas with H2 in gas-based DRI plants.

3. Recently Parliament has passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

a) This Bill amends the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 to include a certain community in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Tripura.

B) It includes the Darlong community as a sub-tribe of the Kuki tribe in the list of STs in Tripura.

4. Recently President Ram Nath Kovind met PM Mark Rutte in Amsterdam.

A) As part of the 75 years of India’s Independence Celebrations – Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, President Ram Nath Kovind will be hosting a cultural performance to be graced by the King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of Netherlands.

B) This cultural programme was performed by Kalakshetra Foundation.

5. Recently Union Bank of India launched a super-app named UnionNXT and a digital transformation project SMBHAV.

A) In this project Bank investment outlay of around Rs 1,000 crore for the financial year 2022-23.

B) A banking super-app essentially combines several services, such as payments, online shopping, bill payments, recharges, investment, loans, and fund transfer, on a single platform.

6. Recently, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries to convert Civil aircraft to Multi-Mission Tanker Transport aircraft in India.

A) Under this pact HAL will convert pre-owned Civil aircraft into air refuelling aircraft with transport and cargo.

B) This MoU will facilitate IAI and HAL’s decades-long expertise in manufacturing, developing and producing leading defence platforms.

7. Britain, Australia and the United States have started collaborating on increasing defence and hypersonic missile strikes.

A) This trio collaborated on hypersonic missiles as an expansion of the recent defence alliance of AUKUS.

B) A hypersonic missile is a type of weapon system that flies at the speed of Mach 5 and can be manoeuvred. 

8. Recently, the Indian Council of Historical Research under the Ministry of Education has organised showcasing India’s freedom struggle.

A) This exhibition has been launched under the aegis of the government’s Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

B) This exhibition showcased the country’s freedom struggle from 1757 to 1947.

C) This exhibition was held to highlight the stories of the country’s unsung heroes that contributed to India’s freedom struggle.

D) This exhibition was held in the Parliament Library.

9. The Asian Development Bank forecasted Indian GDP growth to 7.5 per cent in 2022-23 from 2021-22’s estimated 8.9 per cent.

A) the ADB has predicted an inflation rate of 5.8 per cent in 2022-23.

B) ADB has emphasized that India’s economic activity this year will be dependent on public investment

10. Recently, RBI has issued guidelines for the banks to the implementation of the Positive Pay System (PPS).

A) This system has been implemented to safeguard banks against any cheque frauds.

B) The PPS  was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India.

C) The RBI has instructed the banks of the country to enable this facility for all account holders that are issuing cheques of amounts of Rs 50,000 and above.
