I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 8th of June, 158th day of the year and 23rd Tuesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1936 ‘All India Radio’ was launched.
The Indian State Broadcasting Service was renamed “All India Radio”. Officially known as Akashwani, It is the world’s second largest radio network. Its motto is “Bahujanhitaya Bahujansukhaya”.
2) Today in 1915 “Geeta Rahasya”, written by Lokmanya Tilak was published.
It is a Marathi language book written by Tilak while he was in jail at Mandalay, Burma. It is an analysis of Karma Yoga which finds its source in Bhagavad Geeta.
3) Today in 2009 the UN hosted its first World Oceans Day.
It sought to celebrate oceans while also raising awareness of the threats that they and their marine ecosystems faced.
