What is the Global Peace Index?
Global Peace Index (GPI) is a report which measures the position of different countries according to the peacefulness in their region. It is produced by Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). The report presents the most detailed, data-driven analysis on trends in peace, its economic value and ways to develop peaceful societies.
GPI measures 163 countries and territories and covers 99.7 percent of the world’s population. It consists of 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources. These indicators are classified into three main domains: ongoing conflict, safety and security and militarization.
