Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a.k.a. MSD, the 39-year-old former Indian Captain announced his retirement from all forms of International Cricket yesterday through an Instagram video. Dhoni was not just a cricketer, he was inspiration for all Indian Cricket Fans. In a career spanning almost 15 years, MS Dhoni achieved some extra ordinary feats both as a player and as a captain.

Dhoni retires as Indian cricket’s most successful captain in limited-over internationals, having won three ICC trophies – 2007 T20 World Cup, 50-over World Cup in 2011 andthe 2013 ICC Champions Trophy – the only captain to do so. He last played international cricket during the semi-final of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in which India lost to New Zealand. Dhoni also played 350 ODI Matches, 90 Test matches and 98 T20Is in an international career that began in December 2004. His statistics are outstanding: more than 15,000 international runs across formats, 16 centuries, and more than 800 dismissals as wicketkeeper.

Meanwhile, the former Indian Cricketer Suresh Raina also joined Dhoni and announced his retirement from International Cricket via Social Media.

Suresh Raina (age 33), made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2005. One of India’s trusted men on the field, the left-hander scored 5,615 runs from 226 ODIs. He averages 35.3, having scored 36 fifties and five centuries. His Test debut was also against Sri Lanka in the year 2010. He is the first Indian cricketer who has centuries in all three formats of International Cricket, followed by KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.

The Duo had a great career together. While the both played for India in International Cricket, the played for IPL Franchise Chennai Super Kings and enjoyed a great bond.

Shortly after MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket, tributes from the world of cricket all around the globe started pouring in. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Captain Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, and many more took to social media to congratulate their former captain on a wonderful career.
