Kisan Saarathi: Digital platform for farmers launched
The scheme was launched by the Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw along with the Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar via video conferencing on Friday (July 16).
The government has launched a digital platform named as ‘Kisan Saarathi’, available in Hindi and many regional languages, through which farmers can interact and avail personalised advisories on agriculture and allied areas directly from the respective scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs), the nodal centres that ensure growers benefit from research and technology.

It was jointly launched by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and the Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology.
It is a digital platform to facilitate farmers to get ‘right information at right time’ in their desired language.
It will help farmers to interact and avail personalised advisories on agriculture and allied areas directly from the respective scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs).
Farmers can also learn new farming methods using it.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra:
It is an agricultural extension center in India. Usually associated with a local agricultural university, these centers serve as the ultimate link between the ICAR and farmers, and aim to apply agricultural research in a practical, localized setting.
It is an integral part of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS).
Moreover, farmers can also learn new farming methods using the Kisan Sarathi platform, which has been launched by the Indian government on the 93rd Foundation Day of ICAR.

While launching the app, Tomar said that the app will enable farmers to get access to the right information at the right time and in their desired language. Tomar in his speed highlighted the wonderful ability of India’s agricultural sector to meet the food crop targets even during the challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic. He also added that the farm laws hold a promise of bringing revolutionary transformation in the field of agriculture and, at the same time, increasing livelihood options for farmers.
