HISTORY Telangana GK Notes 2021:
Several movements were organized to repeal the amalgamation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The major movements occurred in the year 1969, 1972 and 2009.
- The movement for a new state of Telangana obtained strength in the 21st century on the inventiveness of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC). On 9 December 2009, the Indian government announced the procedure of formation the Telangana as a state.
- Violent disagreements led by people in the Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema areas originated immediately after this announcement. Hence, the resolution was kept on hold for a while.
- The movement continued in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana. There have been hundreds of claimed suicides, strikes, protests and disturbances to public life demanding separate statehood.
- The Congress Working Committee without opposition passed a decision to nominate the development of a separate state of Telangana on 30 July 2013.
- After various stages, the bill was presented in Parliament in February 2014.
- In February 2014, Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 bill was processed by the Parliament of India for the formation of Telangana as a state consisting of10 districts from north-western Andhra Pradesh.
- The bill received the acceptance of the President of India and was published in the Gazette on 1 Mach 2014.
- Telangana was officially formed as a state on 2 June 2014. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao was elected as the first chief minister of Telangana, following elections in which the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party secured a majority.
- Hyderabad had become the joint capital of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for more than 10 years tenure, after that tenure Hyderabad will become the capital of Telangana and new capital will be formed for Andhra Pradesh.

Moving further, now let’s study the environmental aspects of Telangana.
ENVIRONMENT Telangana GK Notes 2021:
Telangana is known for its hospitality, multicultural and pluralistic society. The state provides a perfect place to discover nature in its pristine form and rhythm with enthralling natural beauty.
- The State has a recorded forest area of 26,904 sq. km that is 24% of its geographical area. The Reserved, Protected and Unclassed Forests are 75.65%, 22.07% and 2.28% respectively, of recorded forest area.
- Total number of Wildlife Sanctuaries in Telangana is 9 and total number of national parks is 3.
- The three national parks situated in Telangana are Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park, Mrugavani National Park, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park.
- Famous wildlife sanctuaries of the state are Kinnersani wildlife sanctuary, Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam wildlife sanctuary, Lanja Madugu Siwaram wildlife sanctuary, etc.
- The State is drained by two major rivers namely, Godavari and Krishna and their tributaries.
- There are 2 basins and 10 sub basins in the state. The major river basins are Godavari, Krishna and sub basins are lower Krishna, middle Krishna, lower Godavari, Indravati, Waingainga, Pranhita, Manjira, Lower Bhima and middle Godavari.
- Two major dams of Telangana are Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and Srisailam Dam that are located at the border of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana is one of the fastest-growing states in India posing an average annual growth rate of 13.90% over the last five years. Agriculture forms the backbone of Telangana’s Economy. There are many multi-state irrigation projects in development. The state has also started to focus on the fields of information technology and biotechnology. Telangana is a mineral-rich state, with coal reserves at Singareni Colleries. Automobiles and auto components industry, spices, mines and minerals, textiles and apparels, pharmaceutical, horticulture, poultry farming are the main industries in Telangana that uplift the economy.

EDUCATION Telangana GK Notes 2021:
According to the 2011 census, Telangana’s literacy rate is 66.46%which is low than the national literacy rate. The state’s educational system provides for 10 years of schooling, followed by a two-year junior college course leading to undergraduate and postgraduate education. Primary school is compulsory, and both primary and secondary school are provided free of charge.
SPORTS:
The state game of Telangana is Kabaddi. Other major traditional games played in Telangana are Tokkudu Billa/Tangidi Billa, Antakshari, Tambola, Bongaralu aata, Carroms, Vamana guntalu, Ashta chamma, etc.
Here are some more interesting facts about TELANGANA:
- Telangana, formerly a part of the princely state of Hyderabad, loosely translates to “land of Telugus”. The name “Telangana” was used to distinguish the parts of Hyderabad state where people spoke Telugu, from the rest.
- The renowned Osmania University of Hyderabad played a pivotal role in the Telangana movement, from 1956 onward. The first protests are known to have taken place around the year 1969.
- Kuntala waterfall in Adilabad district, Telangana is the biggest waterfall of Telangana.
- The Thousand Pillar Temple or Rudreshwara Swamy Temple is a historic Hindu temple located in Hanamakonda, Telangana. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Surya.
