MANTHAN-2021: Key Highlights
Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) launched Manthan 2021 at the National Media Centre.
MANTHAN 2021 Hackathon is a unique national initiative to identify innovative concepts and technological solutions for addressing the security challenges of the 21st century faced by intelligence agencies. It is scheduled from 28th November to 1st December 2021 and is a 36 hours online hackathon.
Who can participate?
Hackathon is open to those who can offer technology solutions to address the challenges faced by intelligence agencies.
All team members must be from the same college for college/university students; no inter-college teams are permitted. However, members from different branches of the same college/institute are encouraged to form a team.
The applicants can register themselves for the event through its official website manthan.mic.gov.in.
Activities
- It will be carried out in two phases: Participants are expected to submit their concepts against the problem statements they wish to solve on the portal during the first phase.
- The ideas will be evaluated by a group of experts.The innovative ideas will be selected for the second round scheduled from November 28.
- In the Finale, selected participants will be expected to build a solution to demonstrate their concepts and demonstrate to the juries that their ideas are technically feasible and, more importantly, implementable.
- The participants will have to develop digital solutions under six themes for 20 different challenge statements.
- The participants will develop solutions using new technologies like artificial intelligence, deep learning, augmented reality and machine learning.
Prize to the Winner
The prize money worth 40 lakh will be given to the winning teams.
Significance
MANTHAN-2021 will bring together selected youths from educational institutions across the country as well as registered start-ups to offer strong, safe, and effective technology solutions based on their technical expertise and innovative skills.
It covers all areas that require reformation from young innovative minds that will assist the nation in building systems that are more secure and scalable without relying on foreign tools.
Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D)
The Government of India formally established the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), under the Ministry of Home Affairs giving a new orientation to then existing Police Research and Advisory Council (1966) for the following reasons and with the primary objective of modernization of police force:
1.To take direct and active interest in the issues
2.To promote a speedy and systematic study of the police problems
3.To apply science and technology in the methods and techniques used by police
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
It was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body to conduct a survey of technical education facilities.
It aims to promote the country’s development in a coordinated and integrated manner.
It was established to provide for the formation of an All India Council for Technical Education in order to ensure proper planning and coordinated development of a technical education system.
