In this blog we will be talking about the newly launched web based portal “pmcaresfundforchildren.in” launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. We will discuss the portal, PM CARES fund for children scheme and all the major points relevant to it. Read the blog carefully to understand the process, benefits and other points of the portal.
Let us start first by knowing about the PM CARES for Children scheme.
PM CARES for Children Scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme for the children who lost both parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme aims at supporting and empowering all such children. Such children were to get an amount monthly from 18 years of their age. Once they turn 23 a fund of Rs 10 Lakh will be given from PM CARES.
Other benefits
Children under 10 years will be given admission in the nearest Kendra Vidyalaya or in private school. Children between 11 – 18 years will be given admission in residential schools such as Sainik School etc. Expenditure on uniform, notebooks, fees will be paid by PM CARES.
Assistance in obtaining education loans for higher studies. Interest on such loans will be paid from the PM CARES.
Health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat till 18 years. Premium will be paid by PM CARES.
PMCARESFORCHILDREN.IN – Web Portal
- The portal is launched with an aim to facilitate submission of applications, identification of children eligible to receive support under the ‘PM CARES for Children’ and processing of applications for securing benefits to them.
- The module for child registration and beneficiary identification has been activated. The portal will be updated on a regular basis with new material and modules.
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development asked the Chief Secretaries of all States/Administrators of all Union Territories to direct the District Magistrates in their States to identify the children eligible for support under the ‘PM CARES for Children’ scheme.
- The details of eligible children are to be filled in the portal to ensure prompt assistance to them.
- A time span of 15 days has been allotted for identification and registration of COVID-19 orphaned children.
Eligibility
- All children who have lost
- Both parents or
- Surviving parent or
- Legal guardian / adoptive parents due to CoVID-19 pandemic from the date 11/3/2020 till the end of pandemic shall be entitled to benefits under the scheme.
