About Samvedan 2021
- Samvedan 2021 is a competition in which people are invited to participate to solve societal problems of India through an IoT Sensor Board.
- IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation (IITM-PTF) and Sony India Software Centre are jointly organizing this competition.
- It is based on the Sony Semiconductor Corporation’s SPRESENSE Board. This board will be provided to the participants to use in this challenge.
- All Indian citizens residing in India can participate in this competition.
- Registration for this grand competition has already started from 1 July.
Events
The grand challenge will be held in three stages – quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. A team with maximum three members can take part in the challenge. 75 ideas will be shortlisted in the quarter-finals and 25 best ideas among them will be chosen for semi – finals.
Prize to be awarded
There will be seven finalists with prizes for each of them. Amount worth 3 lakhs will be given to the best teams. Alongwith the prize money, the winners will be given a chance to be a part of entrepreneurial support scheme by IITM-PTF.
Also, each quarter finalist will be provided with a free SPRESENSE board by Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation through IITM-PTK.
Importance of the Competition
Samvedan 2021 is a unique concept. It will identify innovative solutions and talents across the country in the sensor-based solution areas. Additionally, it will also be a platform for successful start-ups to solve societal problems of national importance.
IITM-PTF is also planning to offer the top team Entrepreneur-In-Residence scholarship which will help them to nurture it into a start-up.

IITM-PTF is a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) for Sensor, Networking, Actuators and control Systems (SNACS) area. It is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).
