1. The Culture Ministry celebrated International Women’s Day 2022 with the theme ‘Break The Bias’ and ‘Sharing Is Caring’.

A) The highlight of the event was the interaction with the audience by the Minister of State Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi who encouraged women to share their stories of breaking the bias.

B) The event was graced by the Women Ambassadors of countries like Guyana, Venezuela, Poland, Bulgaria, Madagascar, women officials of the Ministry of Culture and distinguished members of the BRICS-CCI.

2. Indonesia and Australia made a partnership with the aim of tackling plastic pollution in the Indo-Pacific region.

A) This partnership will bring together investors, researchers and major stakeholders including the public and private sectors.

B) According to the United Nation Environment Program (UNEP) we produce about 300 million tonnes of plastic waste every year.

C) The Australian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s national science agency, has launched the Plastics Innovation Hub Indonesia project. 

D) CSIR operates more than 50 sites across Australia, Chile, France, USA.   

3. Joe Biden announced that the U.S would ban the import of all Russian oil, gas and energy.

A) Last year the U.S. imported just about 8 percent of its total volume of crude and refined products from Russia.

B) The European Union also announced to cut Russian-gas dependence by two-thirds this year and end its reliance on Russian fuel before 2030.

4. Rating agency ICRA has warned of a series of downside risks to the economy next fiscal with runaway current account deficit (CAD).

A) Current account deficit to cross 3.2 percent of GDP, crossing 3 per cent for the first time in a decade according to ICRA chief economist Aditi Nayar.

B)Total Indian forex reserves of 631.5 billion dollars are likely to help avert sudden sharp ripeness drop.

5. The Cabinet of Assam gave approval to the proposal of replacing paper ballots with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the polls of Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

A) GMC bill, 2022 to replace paper ballots with EVMs with the aim of ensuring efficiency and transparency in the elections.

B) Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are voting machines that help in casting and counting votes.

C) EVM have two parts, one is the balloting unit and the other is the control unit.

6. Ultra-efficient 3D Printed Catalysts are developed by researchers at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University, Australia.

A) 3D Printed catalysts are helping to the overheating challenge in hypersonic aircraft, a revolutionary solution to thermal management across many industries, also be used in air pollution control, etc.

B) 3D printing is the construction of a three-dimensional object from a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) model.

7. The Delhi government will be planning to launch a mega campaign for urban farming.

A) A Delhi Environment Protection Committee will also be set up by the government of Delhi to make this initiative a mass movement.

B) Through this campaign the people of Delhi will be able to reduce the consumption of excessive chemical products in their daily life and therefore, their health will improve.

C) People from Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), NGOs, environment enthusiasts and MLA-Councillor representatives will be part of this committee.

8. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is organising a national level ‘India Water Pitch-Pilot-Scale Start-up Conclave’ on 12 March 2022 at Stein Auditorium, New Delhi.

A) Aim of this conclave is to start communication with start-ups in the water sector.

B) The Ministry will select 100 start-ups through this challenge, which will be provided Rs.20 lakhs as funding support.

C) The Prime Minister has launched the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0) on 01 October 2021 with the aim of making Indian cities ‘Atma Nirbhar’ and ‘Water Secure’.

9. The Union Minister for Labour & Employment, Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav gave Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) to the Steel Authority of India (SAL) employees.

A) The VRP, instituted by the Government of India, is aimed at rewarding the efforts of workers from the industrial undertakings at the national level. 

B) Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar Scheme also known as Shram Vir National Awards, was started in 1965 for rewarding & recognizing the efforts of workers from the industrial undertakings at the national level.

10. The Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam have witnessed a sharp rise in the population of rhinos and tigers.

A) Manas National Park is a national park that has been given the status of UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, an elephant reserve, a Project Tiger reserve, and a biosphere reserve. 

B) The park is famous for its endangered and rare endemic wildlife such as the hispid hare, Assam roofed turtle, pygmy hog, and golden langur. 

C) Manas National Park is also famous for its wild water buffalo population.
