1) India’s GDP grew by a record 20.1% in the first quarter of 2021-22.

A) GVA in the economy rose by 18.8% as per NSO data.

B) Overall GVA in Q1 was still 7.8% lower than first quarter of 2019-20.

C) The sharp rise in GDP is primarily due to low base effect.

2) India led UNSC Resolution 2593 despite the absence of two P5 Countries- Russia and China.

3) India elected to the Council of Administration (CA) at 27th Universal Postal Union Congress in Abidjan.

A) India was elected with 106 votes out of 156 countries to the Postal Operation Council.

B) The Universal Postal Union was established by the Treaty of Bern of 1874.

C) It is a specialized agency of the UN that coordinates postal policies among member nations.

4) BMC is drafting the Mumbai Climate Action Plan(MCAP) to tackle climate Change.

A) The plan is expected to be ready by November ahead of the UN Climate Change (COP 26) Conference.

B) As per study of WRI on Mumbai’s Vulnerability assessment, the city will face two challenges- the rise in Temperature and extreme rain events which  will lead to flooding.

C) This has been done following Mumbai’s commitment to C40 cities climate leadership group.

5) Road Connecting Leh to Pangong Lake termed as World’s Highest Motorable Road inaugurated in Ladakh.

A) Stretch passing through Kela Pass at 18,600 feet is the World’s Highest Motorable way.

B) The Road was constructed by 58 Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army.

C) The road will boost the socio economic status of local residents, primarily for people of Lalok region of Ladakh.

6) Sri Lanka declared a state of emergency over food shortages.

A) Private Banks in the country ran out of foreign exchange to finance imports.

B) Sri Lanka is suffering from a hard hitting economic crisis.

C) President named top army officer “Commission General of Essential Services” to coordinate the supply of Paddy, Rice, Sugar and other consumer goods.

7) Loksabha Speaker inaugurates Parliamentary Outreach Programme to empower Panchayati Raj Institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.

A) It was inaugurated at Sher-i-kashmir International Convention Centre in SriNagar.

B) Empowered Panchayats will help in making democracy stronger and increase confidence of People.

C) It is a first of its kind programme that seeks to strengthen the institution of governance and planning at grass root level.
