1. Under the ‘Waste Free City’ vision, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has sanctioned Rs 235 crore to Andhra Pradesh.

A) One of the primary objectives of the mission is to clean up 16 crore metric tonnes of old garbage dump sites, which are occupying about 15,000 acres of municipal land.

B) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 on October 1, 2021, to achieve a “garbage-free city” by the year 2026.

2. According to defence officials, the first batch of three MH-60R multi-role helicopters contracted by the Indian Navy from the United States is scheduled to arrive in India in mid-July.

A) India had signed a 2.2 billion dollar deal for MH-60R helicopters manufactured by Lockheed Martin during the visit of the then US President Donald Trump in February 2020.

B) The MH-60R are replacements for the Sea King 42/42A helicopters already discontinued in the 1990s.

3. The Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) was used for the first time to map the distribution of atomic hydrogen gas from the host galaxy of the Fast Radio Burst (FRB).

A) National Center of Radio Astrophysics (NCRA-TIFR) in Pune and U.S.A. of the University of California for this. Astronomers used the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in 2008.

B) Rapid radio bursts are extremely bright radio pulsations lasting only a few milliseconds from distant galaxies that were first detected fifteen years ago.

C) The Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) is a sizable giant consisting of 27 antennas of 25 meters in diameter.

4. The foundation day of the state of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram was celebrated on 20 February.

A) Namdapha National Park is the fourth largest national park located in Arunachal Pradesh

B) Keibul Lamjao National Park is located in Mizoram.

5. Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the “Gobar-Dhan (Bio-CNG) Plant” in Indore.

A) The Prime Minister said that in the coming two years, Gobar Dhan Bio CNG plants will be set up in 75 major municipalities.

B) This campaign will go a long way towards making Indian cities clean, pollution-free and clean energy.

6.’ ‘Tamil Thatha’ U V Swaminatha Iyer remembered on his birth anniversary.

A) He made a great contribution to the Tamil language and popularized the works of the Sangam age.

B) Tamil Thatha ‘U V. Swaminatha Iyer was born on 19 February 1855 in Surya Moolai village, Tamil Nadu.

7. The Government of India will expand the public electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country.

A) Government has made 360-degree efforts to augment the public charging infrastructure by involving private and public agencies.

B) The government has initially focused on these 9 megacities (with a population of more than 4 million).

C) There are a total of 1640 operational public EV chargers in India. Out of which there are about 940 stations in 9 cities (Surat, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai).

8. Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will play an important role in making bajra the hub of the world.

A) The United Nations General Assembly, a resolution sponsored by India and supported by over 70 countries, declared 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millet’.

B) The objective of the International Year of Millets is to raise awareness about the health benefits of the grain and its suitability for cultivation in changing climatic conditions.

C) Several startups and FPOs are participating in ‘Food, Agriculture and Livelihood’ showcasing their innovative agro-technical solutions and sustainable and healthy millet-based products.

9. The Union Cabinet on 15 December 2021 approved the Semicon India program with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore.

A) Semiconductors are used in manufacturing electronic equipment ranging from smartphones and cloud servers to modern cars, industrial automation, critical infrastructure and defence systems.

B) The Indian semiconductor market was worth US 15 billion dollars in 2020 and is projected to reach US 63 billion dollars by 2026.

C) The Design Linked Incentive Scheme has been successful in generating interest among domestic companies and startups with applications registered on the Bharat Semiconductor Mission portal.

10. Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted a joint security exercise at Port Blair airspace.

A) The purpose of the drill was to test the preparedness of all security agencies during situations of various contingencies such as terrorist attacks, hostage crises and hijackings at airfields or elsewhere.

B) Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a union territory consisting of 572 islands.
