1. India to host two-day Summit on Green Hydrogen Initiatives with BRICS nations.

A) It will be hosted by India’s largest power producer and global energy majors called NTPC Ltd.

B) The event will be inaugurated on 22nd June 2021 and will be held via a video conference.

C) It offers a platform to share their respective Green Hydrogen initiatives and views on how to take it to the next level in their own countries.

2. India receives $64 bn FDI in 2020, fifth-largest recipient of inflows: UN Report.

A) According to the World Investment Report 2021, India received USD 64 billion in foreign direct investments (FDI) in 2020.

B) “World Investment Report 2021” is released by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

C) Due to the pandemic, FDI flow has decreased by 35% in 2020 to USD 1 trillion from USD 1.5 trillion in 2019.

3. ‘Yellow Gold 48’, a yellow watermelon variety introduced in India by Bayer.

A) German agrochemicals major Bayer has commercially launched this yellow watermelon variety in India under the Seminis brand.

B) It has been developed from superior germplasm under Bayer’s global research and development efforts.

C) Yellow Gold 48 has enhanced yield potential, better disease & pest tolerance and is best suited for cultivation from October to February.

4. Israel successfully tests airborne high-power lasers.

A) Israeli military has successfully tested an airborne high-power laser that has the capability to shoot down drones.

B) Laser is a prototype developed with Elbit Systems.

C) The laser was mounted on a civilian plane and successfully shot down drones during the test conducted over the Mediterranean Sea.

5. State-of-the-Art Canopy Severance System for fighter aircraft developed by ARDE, Pune.

A) State-of-the-art CSS is built for fighter aircraft which helps safe ejection of the pilot in distress.

B) It has been developed by Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune in association with High Energy Material Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune.

C) It will be installed in LCA Tejas and Trainer Aircraft, HJT-36 Aircraft and HTT-40 Aircraft.

6. The Great Barrier Reef should be listed as ‘in danger’ World Heritage Sites, UNESCO recommends.

A) According to the committee, the world’s biggest coral reef system should be added to the ‘in danger’ list because of the impact of climate change.

B) It is opposed by Australia who has been battling for years to keep the Great Barrier Reef, a major tourist attraction, off the “in danger” list.

C) Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system that comprises about 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. 

7. Centre proposed Amendments to the Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules, 2020.

A) To prevent unfair trade practices in e-commerce, the Central Government had notified the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 

B) It will be in effect from 23 July 2020.

C) It is intended to tighten rules for e-commerce marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart after complaints regarding widespread cheating and unfair trade practices against them.

8. Raghuram Rajan, Arvind Subramanian, Esther Duflo and Jean Dreze to be part of Tamil Nadu’s Economic Advisory Council.

A) Recently, the Tamil Nadu government constituted an Economic Advisory Council to the Chief Minister.

B) It will include former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, Nobel laureate Esther Duflo, former CEA Arvind Subramanian, development economist Jean Dreze and former Union Finance Secretary S Narayan.

C) It is being constituted to revive the state’s economy post-pandemic. 

9. Govt extends waiver of ISTS charges on transmission of electricity generated from solar and wind sources till June 2025.

A) Earlier, this waiver was up to 30th June 2023.

B) The waiver of ISTS charges has also been allowed for Hydro Pumped Storage Plant and Battery Energy Storage System projects to be commissioned up to 30th June 2025.
