1) The Minister of Coal and Mine inaugurated the “E-Portal of accreditation scheme” for mineral exploration.

A) The Minister handed over 52 mines blocks to government representatives from 15 states.

3) Wild Elephant radio collared for the first time in Assam’s Sonitpur district by the State forest Department.

A) It was done in collaboration with NGO World Wildlife Fund (WWF)- India.

B) Joint initiative is described as a step to study and mitigate human elephant conflict in the state.

C) Radio Collars are GPS enabled collars that can relay information about an elephant’s whereabouts.

4) Bangladeshi scientist Farhana Sultana successfully builts machine to produce sanitary pads using jute cellulose.

A) It is being developed as an alternative solution for menstrual health and hygiene for women and girls.

B) She will conduct an industrial trial for mass production of sanitary pads and explore options to scale up the operations.

5) Indian Railways launched a new scheme called “Bharat Gaurav”.

A) Under the scheme Private  tour operators can take trains on lease from railways and run on any circuit of their choice.

B) Operators will also get freedom to decide routes, fares and quality of services on trains.

C) Railways will set up special units across the zones in order to facilitate and handhold the operators.

6) The US invites 100 countries for a virtual summit on Democracy.

A) The US has not invited China and Russia for this meeting.

B) Biden placed the struggle between autocratic governments and democracies at the heart of his foreign policy.

C) Turkey, a NATO ally of the US, was not included on the list.

7) NITI Aayog launches SDG Urban Index and Dashboard 2021-22.

A) Shimla topped the list of cities by scoring highest on the index.

B) It ranks 56 urban areas on 77 SDG indicators.

C) The index highlights strengths and gaps of ULB level data, monitoring as well as reporting systems.
