I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 15th of June, 165th day of the year and 24th Tuesday of 2021.
1) Today in 2001 The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was formed.
SCO is an Eurasian Economic, Political and Security Organisation formed by leaders of 6 countries: China, Russia,Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. India became a full member in 2017.
2) Today in 1947 All India Congress accepted Mountbatten’s plan for partition of India in New Delhi.
The plan for partition was declared by the last viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten on June 3, 1947. The states of Punjab and Bengal were divided.
3) Today in 1960 Burdwan University was established in West Bengal.
It is a public university in Purba Bardhaman. It was established by the West Bengal government. The last Maharaja of Burdwan Udaychand Mahtab left the entire property of Burdwan to the govt of West Bengal after Zamindars system ended in 1950.
4) Today in 1993 PM Narsimha Rao visited Oman.
India and Oman decided to give each other Most Favoured Nation Status. The agreement to cooperate in the hydrocarbon and fertilizer was reached.
5) Today in 1215 Magna Carta was signed by King John.
Magna Carta is a charter of English Liberties that occupies a unique place in the popular imagination as a symbol and a battle cry against oppression.
