1) Today in 2016 ISRO created history by launching 20 satellites in a single flight.

In its thirty sixth flight ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C34) successfully launched the 727.5 kg Cartosat-2 Series Satellite along with 19 co-passenger satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota. This is the thirty fifth consecutively successful mission of PSLV and the fourteenth in its ‘XL’ configuration. The total weight of all the 20 satellites carried on-board PSLV-C34 was 1288 kg.

Earlier when he was the ruler of Mughal India, he was defeated by Sher Shah Suri. He spent 15 years in exile before recapturing the throne today in 1555. Earlier he ruled for 10 years, from 1530 to 1540 and again from 1555 to 1556.

3) Today in 1939 Netaji Subhash chandra Bose established the political party ‘Forward Bloc’.

After the differences with Congress leaders, he resigned as the president of Indian National Congress and founded his own party ‘Forward Bloc’ which later came to be known as ‘All India Forward Bloc’.

4) Today in 1986 an Argentine footballer Diego Maradona scored a controversial ‘Hand of God’ goal in the FIFA World Cup against England.

The ball struck his hand, but the referee mistakenly thought it had hit his head. It helped Argentina defeat England in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal game. Argentina went on to win the tournament. This was the only FIFA World Cup won by Argentina.
