I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 25th of June, 175th day of the year and 26th Friday of 2021.
1) Today in 1975 Indira Gandhi Government declared Emergency in India.
Democracy was restored after nearly 2 years on 21st March 1977. The Emergency was declared without warning on midnight of 25th June and the country woke up to the death of democracy.
2) Today in 1932 India played their first official match on the ground of Lords against England.
From 1932 India had to wait until 1952 almost 20 years for its 1st test victory.
3) Today in 1922 Famous Bengali Poet Satyendranath Dutta was born.
He is considered a wizard of rhymes. He was an expert in many disciplines of intellectual enquiry including medieval Indian History, culture and Mythology.
4) Today in 1931 Former Prime Minister of India Vishwanath Pratap Singh was born.
He was the 7th Prime Minister of India and 41st Raja Bahadur of Manda. He is India’s only Prime Minister to have been a former ruler.
5) Today in 1950 Korean War Began.
North Korea unleashed an attack southward across the 38th parallel after which the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling UN members to assist South Korea.
