I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 26th of June, 176th day of the year and 26th Saturday of 2021.
1) Today in 1992 The Tin Bigha Corridor leased to Bangladesh.
A strip of land in India was leased to Bangladesh so that it could access the Dahagram-Angarpota Bangladeshi enclaves within Indian Territory. The people in the enclaves were totally surrounded by people of a foreign country and didn’t have access to the mainland of their mother country.
2) Today in 1995 Madhya Pradesh declared “Tiger State” as it houses one sixth of the World’s Tiger Population.
At the start of the 21st century the population of Bengal Tiger in India was around 20,000-40,000.
3) Today in 1874 Rajarshi Shahu Chhatrapati, great revolutionary freedom fighter and social reformer was born.
He was the first Maharaja of the princely state of Kolhapur and was considered a true democrat and social reformer.
