I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of the 3rd of July, 183rd day of the year and 27th Saturday of 2021.
1) Today in 1897 independence and Women Rights activist, Hansa Jivraj Mehta, was born.
She was earliest feminist from India. She was part of the Constituent Assembly of India from 1946 to 1949. She served Bombay Legislative Council from 1937-39.
2) Today in 1908 Bal Gangadhar Tilak was arrested as a traitor by Britishers.
He was arrested for sedition by the British. He was a popular Indian Nationalist and independence activist who was one of the first popular leaders of the freedom movement.
3) Today in 1956 Pandit Nehru and New Zealand PM Sir Sidney Holland were given the freedom of the City of London.
They were honoured in a ceremony at Guildhall in the British capital.The two Commonwealth signed the roll of fame and were given documents of the Freedom.
4) Today in 1898 Bhagwan Gopinath was born at Banamohalla, Srinagar.
He is one of the most eminent saints who have graced the sacred land of India. An Ashram at Khanyar, Srinagar is set up by his disciples and devotees to preach his meditation.
