I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 30th of June, 180th day of the year and 26th Wednesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1855 Santhal Revolt started.
It is also known as Santhal Hool in the Santhali language and started in present day Jharkhand. Two Santhal Brothers Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu Organised 10,000 santhals and proclaimed rebellion against British.
2) Today in 1917 Dadabhai Naoroji aka Grand Old Man of India died.
He was born in Mumbai.He acted as a mentor to Gandhi, Tilak and Gopal Krishna Gokhale. He was one of the founders of Indian National Congress.
3) Today in 1834 Congress created Indian Territory (now Oklahoma).
Indian National Congress passed the Indian Intercourse Act in 1834. Indian Territory later came to refer to an Unorganized Territory whose general borders were initially set by the Non Intercourse Act of 1834.
4) Today in 1981 President Rule was imposed in Assam.
Congress govt led by Anwara Taimur representing immigrant minorities collapsed following intensification of “Assam Agitation” against illegal foreign nationals staying in Assam.
