I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 5th of July, 185th day of the year and 27th Monday of 2021.
1) Today in 2017 Prime Minister Modi made a historic visit to Israel becoming the 1st Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel.
Many agreements and MoUs were signed between both countries. Modi did not visit Palestinian authorities on this visit. Israel is India’s third largest arms supplier.
2) Today in 1918 Four Time Chief Minister of Kerala K. Karunakaran was born.
He was an Indian Politician and member of Indian National Congress. He is the founder of United Democratic Front, a political alliance in Kerala led by INC.
3) Today in 1994 India’s first woman IPS Officer Kiran Bedi was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for government service.
She was posted to Delhi Prisons as Inspector General in 1993. She introduced several reforms at Tihar Jail, which gained worldwide acclaim and won her Ramon Magsaysay award.
4) Today in 1954 BBC launched daily TV News.
The BBC has broadcast its first daily television news programme. The 20 minutes bulletin was introduced by Richard Baker.
