I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 13th of July, 193rd day of the year and 28th Tuesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1905 Premnath Bazaz, famous Kashmiri Freedom Fighter, was born.
He was a secularist and democrat. He founded two political parties, the Kashmir Socialist Party and Kisan Mazdoor Conference. He was considered a close comrade of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah.
2) Today in 1929 Jatindranath Das started a fast strike.
Das’s strike lasted for 63 days. He started a strike with other revolutionary fighters demanding equality for Indian Political prisoners with those from Europe. Jatin died on 13 september 1929.
3) Today in 1974 India played its first One day international cricket match Vs England at Headingley.
It was on the 1974 tour of England when India made their ODI debut against England. England won the match by 4 wickets and the player of the match was John Edrich.
4) Today in 1793 French Revolutionary Jean Paul Marat was assassinated.
He was a leader of the radical Montagnard faction during the French Revolution and was stabbed to death in his bath by Charlotte Corday, a young Girondin Supporter who was subsequently Guillotined.
