I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 20th of July, 200th day of the year and 27th Tuesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1965 Revolutionary Leader Batukeshwar Dutt died.
He was a Revolutionary freedom fighter involved in the Central Legislative Assembly Bombing Case of 1929. He joined Hindustan Republican Association and learned how to make bombs.
2) Today in 1969 M Hidayatullah became India’s first Acting President.
He was 11th Chief Justice of India and sixth Vice President of India from 1979 to 1984.During his term as Chief Justice of India the then President of India Zakir Husain died. The Vice President Mr VV Giri became the acting President. Later Giri resigned from both offices thus Hidayatullah served as Acting President.
3) Today in 1991 Chithira Thirunal Bala Rama Varma, Maharaja of Travancore issues famous Temple Entry proclamation passed away.
He allowed opening Hindu Temples all over his kingdom to people of all castes.
4) Today in 1296 Alaud-din Khalji declared himself as King of Delhi after assassinating Jalal-ud-din Khalji.
He successfully fended off the Mongol Invasions from Chagatai Khanate. He instituted a number of significant administrative changes, related to revenue, price controls and society.
5) Today in 1924 Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar established the Bahishkrit Hitakarini Sabha.
It is a Central Institution formed by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for removing difficulties of the untouchables and placing their grievances before the government. The founding principles of Sabha were “Educate, Organize and Agitate”.
