I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 23rd of July, 203rd day of the year and 28th Friday of 2021.
1) Today in 1856 Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born.
He was a freedom fighter and lawyer also known as Lokmanya Tilak. He gave India the slogan “Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it”. He published 2 newspapers Kesari in Marathi and Mahratta in English.
2) Today in 1906 Revolutionary Freedom Fighter Chandrashekhar Azad was born.
Joining the radical Hindustan Republic Association, Azad participated in several violent crimes, notably the Kakori Train Robbery and revenge killing of a British police officer.
3) Today in 1927 All India Radio was launched.
It was officially known since 1957 as Akashvani. It is the national public radio broadcaster of India and is a division of Prasar Bharati. It is the sister service of Prasar Bharati Doordarshan, an Indian Television broadcaster.
