I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 28th of July, 208th day of the year and 28th Wednesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1921 Congress boycotted the visit of Prince Wales.
The INC decided to boycott the upcoming visit of the Prince of Wales in November as part of the Non Cooperation Movement. His visit was marked with demonstrations, hartal and political meetings.
2) Today in 1946 Sister Alphonsa, the first woman of Indian Origin to be canonised by Catholic church died.
She was an Indian Catholic nun and educator.She was the first canonised saint of Syro-Malabar Church, an Eastern Catholic Church based in Kerala.
3) Today in 2011 The First Official “World Hepatitis Day” was observed.
The day was established by WHO. The day aims to raise awareness of Hepatitis- a group of infectious diseases known as Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E and encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
