I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 10th of August, 221st day of the year and 30th Tuesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1894 India’s fourth President VV Giri was born.
He was one of the patriarchs of the country’s Trade Union Movement. He joined Indian National Congress and also participated in Annie Besant’s Home Rule League. He became the President of All India Trade Union Congress in 1926 for the first time.
2) Today in 1581 Mughal Emperor Akbar won Kabul.
He seized Kabul and took up residence at Babur’s old citadel. Akbar left Kabul in the hands of his sister Bakht-Un-Nisa Begum and returned to India. The Kabul expedition was the beginning of a long period of activity over the northern frontiers of the empire.
3) Today in 1930 Guntur Magistrate prohibited people from wearing Gandhi caps in the famous Gandhi Cap Case.
The Gandhi Cap Case was one of the most famous judgments of Justice Pandalay.
Magistrate eventually backed the police plea that they could not differentiate between he was a member of the Civil Disobedience Movement and who was not.
4) Today in 1986 General AS Vaidya, army chief general at the time of Operation Blue Star was assassinated.
He was brutally assassinated by Khalistani terrorists only 2 years later after the military neutralised Bhindranwale. He was assassinated by Sikh militants of Khalistan Commando Force.
