I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 10th of September, 252nd day of the year and 35th Friday of 2021.
1) Today in 1915 Revolutionary Leader Bagha Jatin died.
He succumbed to the wounds suffered in a gun battle with British Authorities. He was arrested for his involvement in the Howrah Gang Case but was acquitted for lack of evidence in 1911. He was able to organise district revolutionary units in Bengal.
2) Today in 1980 Mangalore University was established.
It is a public university in Konaje, Mangalore, Karnataka. It has jurisdiction over the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu. Some of its Alumni are Satya Nadella,VG Siddhartha, Sadananda Gowda etc.
3) Today in 1920 Indian American mathematician and statistician CR Rao was born.
He put forward the ” theory of estimation” in statistics. His theorems and formulae like “Gramer-Rao Inequality”, “The Fisher-Rao Theorem” and “Rao-Black Wellistaion” are now part of standard textbook of statistics.
