I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of September 12th of September, 254th day of the year and 35th Sunday of 2021.
1) Today in 1786 Lord Cornwallis became Governor General of Bengal.
He took charge as Governor General of Fort William (Bengal) and as Commander in Chief of British India. He introduced the Permanent Settlement of land revenue in Bengal and other parts of India. He established courts in districts, provinces and states. He established Thanas to maintain law and order.
2) Today in 1919 Adolf Hitler Joined the German Workers Party, later Nazi Party.
Hitler became involved in a heated argument with a visitor and made an impression on DAP party members with his oratorical skills. He was encouraged by Drexler to join the party. Drexler was the chairman of the party.
3) Today in 1966 Famous Indian Swimmer Mihir Sen crossed the Dardanelles Channel.
He was a famous Indian Long distance swimmer and businessman. He was the first Indian to conquer the English Channel from Dover to Calais in 1958. Unique achievement earned him a place in Guinness Book of Records as “World’s Greatest Long distance Swimmer”.
