I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of September 13th of September, 255th day of the year and 35th Monday of 2021.
1) Today in 1500 Portuguese explorer Pedro Alvares Cabral arrived in Calicut in Kerala.
He established a factory which was the first European factory in India. He was appointed by King of Portugal, Manuel I to travel to India on the sea route established by Vasco Da Gama and establish trade relations with India. The Portuguese ruled over parts of India for about 450 years.
2) Today in 1948 Vallabhbhai Patel took police action in Hyderabad.
It was taken due to anti national policies of Nizam of Hyderabad and Rijvi Rajakars. Operation Polo was the code name of Hyderabad Police Action. It was a military operation in which Indian Armed Forces invaded a Nizam ruled princely state annexing it into the Indian Union.
3) Today in 1906 Surendra Kumar Dey, Social Reformer and Politician was born at Sylhet, Bangladesh.
He was India’s first Union Cabinet Minister for Cooperation and Panchayati Raj. He pioneered and steered community development in Independent India.
