I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 16th of August, 227th day of the year and 31st Monday of 2021.
1) Today in 1946 Muslim League proclaimed the Direct Action Day.
It was done to meet their demand for a seperate Muslim Homeland after British left the Indian Sub continent. Main aim was to attain a different country with Muslim majority. League leaders gave fiery speeches at the rally which got a massive crowd excited.
2) Toda in 1886 Guru of Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa died.
He was an Indian mystic, saint and religious leader in 19th century Bengal. He also taught disciples that would later form the monastic Ramakrishna Order.
3) Today in 1932 the British Government in India gave separate electoral representation to the Depressed Classes.
The Communal award was created by British Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald. It was also known as the Macdonald award. It was announced after the Round Table conference and it extended several electors to even minorities.
