1) Today in 1803 Battle of Assaye was fought between Maratha and British Forces.

The Battle of Assaye was a major battle of the Second Anglo-Maratha War fought between the Maratha Empire and the British East India Company. It occurred near Assaye in western India where an outnumbered Indian and British force under the command of Major General Arthur Wellesley (who later became the Duke of Wellington) defeated a combined Maratha army of Daulatrao Scindia and the Bhonsle Raja of Berar. 

2) Today in 1863 a key leader in the revolt of 1857, Rao Tularam Singh, died.

Rao Tularam Singh was an Yaduvanshi Ahir King or chieftain of Rewari. He was one of the key leaders of the Indian rebellion of 1857 in Haryana, where he is considered a state hero.

3) Today in 1932 the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded.

Since King Abdulaziz Al-Saud established the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932, its transformation has been astonishing. In a few short decades, the Kingdom has turned itself from a desert nation to a modern, sophisticated state and a major player on the international stage.
