1) Today in 1932 Poona Pact was signed between Mahatma Gandhi and B. R. Ambedkar.
The Poona Pact was an agreement between Mahatma Gandhi and B. R. Ambedkar on behalf of depressed classes and upper caste Hindu leaders on the reservation of electoral seats for the depressed classes in the legislature of British India government in 1932.
2) Today in 1861 Freedom Fighter Madam Bhikaji Cama was born.
Bhikaiji Rustom Cama was one of the prominent figures in the Indian independence movement. Bhikaiji Cama was born in Bombay in a large, affluent Parsi Zoroastrian family. She was invited to hoist the flag over the parliament in Germany.
3) Today in 2014 India’s first Interplanetary Mission, The Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) was put into Mars orbit by ISRO.
The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also called Mangalyaan, is a space probe orbiting Mars since 24 September 2014. It was launched on 5 November 2013 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is India’s first interplanetary mission and it made it the fourth space agency to achieve Mars orbit, after Roscosmos, NASA, and the European Space Agency. It made India the first Asian nation to reach Martian orbit and the first nation in the world to do so on its maiden attempt.
