1) Today in 1767 The Battle of Chengam took place.
The combined forces of Mysore’s Hyder Ali and Nizam of Hyderabad fought against the British East India Company at Chengam. It resulted in a British Victory. It was part of the first Anglo Mysore War. The First Anglo Mysore war came to an end with the Treaty of Madras.
2) Today in 1971 Qatar became an Independent nation.
It gained independence from the United Kingdom. It is a country located in Western Asia occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the north eastern coast of Arabian Peninsula. Qatar is classified by the UN as a country of very high human development and having third highest HDI in the Arab World.
3) Today in 1905 Leader of the Indian National Congress, Kamalapati Tripathi was born.
He was an Indian Politician, writer, journalist, and freedom fighter. He served as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as well as Uni Minister of Railways.
