I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 30th of August, 241st day of the year and 33rd Monday of 2021.
1) Today in 1983 Indian Communications Satellite INSAT-1B was launched.
It was launched from Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA. It was built by Firs Aerospace and operated by ISRO. INSAT series is the largest domestic communications system in the Asia Pacific Region. It is a member of the International Cospas Sarsat Programme.
2) Today in 1574 Guru Ram Das became the fourth Sikh Guru.
He served as Sikh guru until his death in 1581. He met Guru Amar Das at the age of 12 and accepted him as his mentor and served him. He appointed his son as his successor.
3) Today in 1659 Aurangzeb executed his elder brother Dara Shikoh to reach the throne of the Delhi Mughal Empire.
Dara Shikoh was the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. In the war of succession Dara was defeated by his younger brother Prince Muhiuddin. Dara was liberal minded unorthodox Muslim. He even authored the work “The Confluence of the Two Seas”.
