I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 9th of August, 220th day of the year and 30th Monday of 2021.
1) Today in 1925 Revolutionaries of Hindustan Republican Association executed Kakori conspiracy.
Revolutionaries looted Number 8 down a train near Kakori, which was carrying money from British Govt Treasury. The plan was hatched by Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqullah Khan, while executed by Bismil Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajendra Lahiri and a few others.
2) Today in 1942 Quit India Resolution was passed by Indian National Congress in its Bombay Session.
Quit India movement also known as August movement was launched at Bombay Session by Mahatma Gandhi. After the failure of Cripps Mission Gandhi made a call Do or die in his Quit India Speech at Gowalia Tank Maidan.
3) Today in 1942 Subhas Chand Bose formed Indian National Army in Malaya.
It was an armed force formed by Indian Collaborationists and Imperial Japan. It fought alongside Japanese soldiers in the latters campaign in SouthEast Asian Theatre of WWII.
4) Today in 1970 Freedom fighter Trailokyanath Chakraborty died.
He was an Indian Independence Activist and politician. He spent 30 years in Jail out of the 80 years he lived. He was one of the chief accused in the Barisal Conspiracy Case of 1913.
5) Today in 1902 King Edward VII was crowned the emperor of Great Britain at Westminster Abbey after the death of his mother Queen Victoria.
He was the king of the UK of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions and emperor of India from 1901. He was an immensely popular and affable Sovereign and a leader of society.
