I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 25th of August, 236th day of the year and 32nd Wednesday of 2021.
1) Today in 1917 Indianization of the Indian Army took place.
Seven Indians serving in the army were granted the King’s Commission. Earlier Indian officers could be commissioned to be only Indian Commissioned Officers(ICO). The idea was first raised by Sir Henry Lawrence in 1844. Idea was to prevent soldiers from rendering their services to princely states.
2) Today in 1825 Uruguay was declared Independent from Brazil.
Brazil and Uruguay are neighbouring countries in South America and share political, economic and cultural ties. It became independent of Spain in 1811 and was annexed by Brazil until 1825.
3) Today in 1919 Bindeshwari Prasad Mandal, former CM of Bihar and President of Mandal Commission, was born.
He served as 7th CM of Bihar. He was a Parliamentarian who served as Chairman of the Second Backward Classes Commission.
