I welcome you all to “Today in History by Hranker.com”. Here, we will discuss some of the major events in the history of 2nd of September, 244th day of the year and 33rd Thursday of 2021.
1) Today in 1946 The Interim Government of India was formed.
It was formed to oversee the transition of the country from a British colony to an independent republic. The Interim government was formed as a provisional government between an imperial structure and a democratic structure. Cabinet Mission of 1946 was sent by the British Government from London to help form the Interim government. It was in force till 15th August 1947 when a new government was formed.
2) Today in 1945 the 2nd World War ended with the surrender of Japan to the allies.
By 1945 Japanese had suffered a string of defeats for nearly two years in the South West Pacific, the Marianas Campaign and the Philippines campaign. As a result of losses, the Imperial Japanese Navy had ceased to be an effective fighting force.
3) Today in 1970 President VV Giri inaugurated Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari.
It is a unique symbol of unity and purity. It is a memorial to Swamiji as to Shri Eknathji Ranade whose devotion to the work he had undertaken was inspired not by mere faith but by intellectual conviction.
